User Experience Basics and Why It Matters by Accenture
The course Digital Skills User Experience by Accenture explains what UX is, how it works in design, and why it matters so much in today’s digital world. It is sometimes called User Centred Design, and it focuses on understanding who the user is, what they think, how they behave, and what they need.
Many people confuse UX with UI, but UI is only about how someone interacts with a screen. UX is much wider. It includes every interaction a person has with a product or with a business, both online and offline. In this course, the examples mainly focused on website design.
The UX Design Process
Good UX starts from the very first idea of a product. It continues throughout the entire life of a website or service. The process usually begins with identifying a problem or need, then researching the users to understand what they like, what they find difficult, and how they use the product.
A big part of UX is getting feedback and making improvements all the time. This is known as iterating. Each new version helps designers find opportunities, respond to changes in user needs, and stay updated with new technologies.
Why UX Matters for Businesses
The course explained how important it is for businesses to design with users in mind. Companies that invest in UX from the beginning save a lot of time and money because they avoid major redesigns later.
User expectations have changed a lot over the years. What used to be acceptable, such as slow or confusing websites, is no longer enough. Today, users expect digital experiences that are fast, clear, and easy to use. When this does not happen, they leave quickly.
Research shows how powerful UX can be. Users decide within half a second if they want to stay on a website. Most people do not return to a site after a bad experience, and many stop using content if it does not display properly on their device. Improving user experience also increases customer loyalty and can even raise a company’s revenue in a big way.
My Thoughts
I found this introduction to UX very interesting because it showed how much thought goes into designing even a simple website. Many things that seem obvious to users are actually carefully planned. UX is not only about visual design but also about understanding people and making their experience smoother and easier.
Even though I only have this simple blog, working on it has helped me practice UX principles. Updating the layout, checking how the content looks, and thinking about how it can be easier to read or follow has given me a sense of what designers consider when creating digital experiences.
Trying to improve this website, checking emails for feedback, sharing it with classmates and colleagues, and seeking ways to make it better has been a good way to see how even small changes can make a website more engaging and effective.
